Applicable Transfer Credit Hours

This Transfer Advising Guide provides 63 college-level hours, of which 60 will transfer and apply, as EDUC 1300 will transfer, but will NOT be applicable

towards the UTSA business baccalaureate degree in in Finance.

Note: UTSA accepts a maximum of 66 college-level hours in transfer towards a baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the specified number of ad-

vanced credits and credits in residence for their degrees.

Note: For the Alamo Colleges District this transfer advising guide is degree complete and field of study complete but NOT core complete.

UTSA Distinguished Transfer Scholarship

Fall and spring transfer applicants who are transferring at least 24 semester credit hours of academic coursework (dual credit and work in progress not included)

at the time of admission will be given automatic consideration based on academic credit. This scholarship is valued up to $6,000 (1,500 each semester) for up to

four consecutive semesters (not including summers) if renewal eligibility is maintained. The value is awarded on a competitive basis, while funding is still

available.

Deadline to be considered for the Distinguished Transfer Scholarship:

Fall transfers must be admitted by May 1
Spring transfers must be admitted by October 15

Texas Transfer Field of Study Curriculum for Business Administration

Students pursuing this degree at UTSA must successfully complete each of the Gateway Courses with a grade of “C” or better in no more than two attempts. A stu-

dent who is unable to successfully complete these courses within two attempts, including dropping a course with a grade of “W” or taking an equivalent course at

another institution (including any colleges of the Alamo Colleges District), will not be allowed to select this major at UTSA.

Special Admission Requirements for the UTSA Carlos Alvarez College of Business

The Carlos Alvarez College of Business at UTSA seeks to enable qualified students to acquire business and technical skills to meet the evolving demands of employ-

ers and stakeholders in Texas and beyond. All degree-seeking students who meet UTSA regular undergraduate admission requirements and are able to enroll

in MAT 1053 (TCCN: MATH 1324) or a higher-level mathematics course in their first semester at UTSA have direct admission to the B.B.A. (all majors), the B.A. in

Economics, the B.S. in Statistics and Data Science, or the B.S. in Applied Cyber Security. Students pursuing specific business majors may have to satisfy additional

academic requirements to complete their degree programs.

Students who do not qualify for enrollment in course MAT 1053 Mathematics for Business, or a higher-level mathematics course, will be classified as business

studies in University College. Business studies students will be evaluated for admission to the Carlos Alvarez College of Business to declare a business major at theend of each term.

Students applying to an undergraduate business self-supporting online degree program will satisfy the same requirements for admission required of regular on-

campus students. (Chapter 4, Subchapter Q, section 4.275 (6), THECB).

Business Math Gateway Course

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree (all majors except Actuarial Science) or a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, whether they

are a declared major or a business studies pathway student, must successfully complete the business math gateway course MAT 1053 (TCCN MATH 1324) or

equivalent with a grade of “C-” or better in no more than two attempts. A student who is unable to successfully complete this course within two attempts, including

dropping the course with a grade of “W,” or by taking an equivalent course at another institution, will be required to change his, her or their major outside of busi-

ness. Upon the second failed attempt students will be changed from Business Studies to undeclared (UND) and will not be eligible for a Bachelor of Business

Administration (B.B.A.) or a Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree.

Business students must register for a required mathematics course every semester beginning with their first semester of enrollment until the math requirements

(MAT 1053 and MAT 1133) are fulfilled.

In order to graduate, all majors must maintain a UTSA and major GPA of 2.0 or higher.

Make an appointment with the academic advisor of the major, once accepted to UTSA, in order to clarify department, college and university policies and
